Comparison to other technologies

Incandescent light bulbs use a resistive filament that allows the passage of electric current through it. Therefore, these bulbs heat the filament and the bulb gets hot. On the contrary, LED lights use up LEDs chips to emit the light in small wavelengths. These easily pass through the filament without heating it. Incandescent light bulbs are also damaged due to over heating and short circuiting, but the led bulbs are immediately shut down when you turn of the dimmer or the button of the light. Florescent lights emit ultraviolet light that is somewhat harmful for human skin, but the light emitted by the led light bulb is safe and does not have any harmful effects on our skin. The efficiency of these regular light bulbs range from about 56 to 57 lumens. While, the led bulbs have their efficiency of more than 100 lumens.
