A Good Logo Designer Knows and Respects the Rules of Good Graphic Design: They Get To Know A Business, Too:

Being a logo designer is an incredibly challenging career.  Not only do you have to stay cutting edge with all the changes in technology as well as design trends, but you are also working in a very competitive field where everyone is looking for their chance to become the next big logo designer.  A logo designer not only has to stay true to their creative and artistic ideals, but they also have to produce logos that accurately reflect a commercial brand and inspire recognition and trust when it is seen by customers.  That is the easy part.  The hard part is a logo designer also has to be able to please their client with their designs.

It is not uncommon for a logo designer to have a client who knows the general idea of what they want and believes that they are just as good as coming up with a logo that will portray their business in the desired manner as a professional logo designer.  When this happens, the client may believe that they have every right to interfere with your creative processes.  While it is true that you are hired to deliver to the client what they want, it is equally important for a good logo designer to also stay true to the rules of good graphic design.  If you capitulate to a client’s demands completely and deliver to them a logo that they love but you hate as a logo designer, and one that also fails to achieve the goal of a logo, that can have a negative impact on your career as well.  It is important to attempt to find a good middle ground when creative struggles between a client and a logo designer occur.
